Session Overview
As individuals with developmental disabilities are living longer than ever before, the importance of supporting healthy aging has become increasingly greater. This webinar will explore the need to promote wellness, independence, and quality of life throughout the aging journey. We will discuss ways to foster physical, emotional, and social well-being, and highlight how communities and caregivers can work together to create supportive environments.
The session will also address the unique challenges of dementia within this population, including diagnosis, funding, behaviours as well as strategies for support, and maintaining dignity in care. Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of how to help individuals with developmental disabilities age well and thrive as valued members of their communities.
