The Alberta Council of Disability Services (ACDS) is offering instructor-led Foundations in Community Disability Studies Tutor Training (Train-the-Trainer) for new tutors, with the option for current tutors to join as a refresher. This training equips participants with the knowledge and skills to deliver ACDS' Foundations Course within their organizations.
Training Overview
Day 1 (June 5): Introduction to ACDS Foundations in Community Disability Services and Adult Learning Principles
Day 2 (June 6): How to teach the Foundations Course
Day 3 (June 13): Participant presentations on a Foundations Unit
Facilitator: Corinne Thomas
Corinne has worked in a variety of different roles in her 25 years in the disability sector. She currently works as a Pastor in a large church in Calgary supporting and advocating for families and individuals impacted by disability. She is a lifelong learner and holds a Bachelor in Human Services, a diploma in Disability Studies, and a certificate in Nonprofit Management. She also is a guardian for a vulnerable adult and a funds administrator and supported decision-maker for another vulnerable adult within the disability community.

Fees
ACDS Members: $300 + GST per learner
Non-members: $390 + GST per learner
(PDD-contracted organizations may be eligible for a sector support subsidy, applied at invoicing.)
Note: Successful participants will receive a Certificate of Completion and be registered as an ACDS Foundations tutor. Registrants will receive pre-session materials and a Zoom link following confirmation of registration and payment.
